After a heavy stretch of political posts here are some light cultural divertissements. The photo is of the bottom half of one of the statues around the main pond in the Royal Park. The top half of the statues are classical torsos then abstract legs and then there are these feet. I love the feet. Very Brussels.

Located in charming Egmont Park, the statue is a copy of the famous statue of Peter Pan in London's Hyde Park, given after WWI "by the children of Great Britain to the children of Belgium."`
For those only familiar with the Disneyfied Peter Pan, this statue is always a shock.

This statue by Tom Frantzen celebrates the famous anti-authoritarian spirit of Brussels. Having been ruled by so many foreign powers over the centuries, Brussels has always had a very strong anti-establishment spirit, and the "vaartkapoen" who is grabbing the cop's leg has been a member of the city's folklore since at least the Austrian occupation.
