I thought I was the only person concerned about this house on Stalingrad Street but it turns out that the Jamaer House has been landmarked since 1988 and is being completely restored. It is in medieval/rennaissance style including rare wood eaves and was built in 1879 by Pierre-Victor Jamaer as his personal residence. He was Brussels' city architect from 1864 - 1895.

I had never entered the church of the Holy Cross and I hadn't missed much. Interesting on the outside but not much on the inside. But, by being on the church porch I was able to get this different angle on Flagey the building.

I'm not familiar with the neighborhood on the backside of Flagey Square so this was a voyage of discovery including this charming primary school from 1911. I would have loved to go to school in a building that looked like this.

This little neighborhood is very low key architecturally, all the styles, Art Nouveau, Art Deco, Beaux Arts, are rendered in a minor key. here a house that is quite plain except for the tilework.
