The rhododendrons are finally in bloom (like everything else, about 5 weeks late). These are in the Colonial Garden in Laken (which used to live up to its name by being filled with rare and beautiful tropical plants. However, under German occupation they were left to die).

As much as I love the pale green of the first leaves of Spring, I also love the fullness and lushness of the leaf canopy as it reaches its apogee just before the leaves turn and die. Here, the trees and old factories along the River (S)(Z)enne as it enters the city.

One silver lining to these storm clouds is this abundant spontaneous wild garden that appeared in an empty lot off Sea Dog Lane.
